Monumo

Being part of the Cambridge ecosystem has been invaluable to Monumo, as it has moved through its start-up journey from idea to fully formed 30-strong company.  Being in Cambridge has given us access to both world-class talent in machine learning and AI and seasoned business leaders that can successfully steer our growth.  This is further supported by organisations such as CISL and DeepTech labs who provide incubator space, support and finance.

Monumo is set to transform the future of electrification through radically improved electric motor design.

Founded in 2021 by serial entrepreneurs Dominic Vergine, Martin Frost and Ian Murphy, Monumo is a deeptech engineering company applying cutting-edge AI and machine learning to create the world’s most efficient electric motors. Its mission is to help global manufacturers build motors that use fewer resources, deliver higher performance and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Monumo’s patented technology has achieved a 50% reduction in torque ripple in switched reluctance motors – a major advance in motor efficiency, noise reduction and cost-effectiveness.

Today, Monumo is unlocking new design possibilities, enabling smarter, faster and more sustainable motor innovation across automotive, aerospace and industrial sectors. In 2024, the company secured £10.5 million in seed funding from angel investors, a strong endorsement of its transformative technology. Monumo is now collaborating with several major engineering and manufacturing firms, reflecting increasing industry interest and confidence in its approach.
